Premiere: Rōnin Arkestra – Stranger Searching (Radio Edit)

We were pretty stoked when news of this project landed in our inbox from our friends over at Albert’s Favourites. The mere mention of the previous exploits of Rōnin Arkestra‘s band members, had us on the edges of our seats before the music had even reached our ears. Donning musicians from Kyoto Jazz Sextet, WONK, Cro-Magnon, Root Soul, Sleepwalker, Sauce81, Kyoto Jazz Massive, and with Mark de Clive-Lowe taking up the role of bandleader; Rōnin Arkestra brings together some of the finest and most creative players in Japan’s Jazz and electronic scene; and the combination is a truly special one.

Today we give you a first listen of the beautiful ‘Stranger Searching’, a  journeying expression of densely rich jazz sonics combined with electronic textural modification. Captured from the off by driving drums and MdCL’s effortlessly warm keys, the picture is then swept over with mellifluent harmony from a chorus of horns all before we are later graced by moments of individual brilliance in track’s expansion. You can only imagine what the full edit has to offer.

First Meeting EP is released March via Albert’s Favourites, grab the single now on Bandcamp.
