Premiere: Pie Eye Collective – Gratitude

‘Gratitude’ is the the first single from the debut release of Matthew Gordon aka Pie Eye Collective; shared with the world, courtesy of the mighty Albert’s Favourites label.

For a number of years now, Gordon has been a strong presence in some of Londons musical circles; working with Hector Plimmer and Scrimshire on studio and live performances, and playing alongside the likes of Emma-Jean Thackray and And Is Phi. So for many, this is a welcome and long awaited emergence of Gordon’s own creative prowess.

Running roughshod over genre fault lines, Gordon maps the beginning of his musical opus, with a building electronic soundscape; feeling through falling jazz chord progressions and broken interchanging time signatures, in search of an elusive sweet spot. Maintaining a sense of suspension and lightness, warmth and depth encroach with circling drums and gentler textures delivered in the central melodic line; all before you realise you were always right where you needed to be, as the sound bath precociously fades away.

Gratitude is released 23rd April via Alberts Favourites, head to Bandcamp for your copy at the drop.
