Premiere: 1000 Kings – Fullfillment House

1000 KINGS is the genre expanding project of three of the UKs most exciting and accomplished musicians.  Bassist Karl Rasheed-Abel, drummer Kwake Bass and an all too well known saxophonist, share Raw Cause with the world. An eight track LP recorded over four years ago now, finally blossoming, revealing branches of experimental pedantry effortlessly moving between sonics of jazz, hip hop, folk and more. This treasure is released by the excellent label and night Jazz re:freshed who fifthteen years strong, continue to unearth and nurture some of the best in UK jazz.

Our pick is the beautifully raw ‘Fullfillment House’ which builds from prominent yet fractured resonant tones from Rasheed-Abels’ bass and soft mallets on Kwake’s drum skins; completing an earthy bed upon which sax is free to layer supremely pure and mellow sax colourings. This is all before the track breakdown, which transports the feel to a more uptempo but equally ruminative groove, carrying all your troubles through to it’s close.

Raw Cause is released 28th September via Jazz re:freshed and will be available on vinyl and digital formats, pre-order your copy now via the Jazz re:freshed bandcamp.
