Relent to the soothing sounds of Creole jazz and Mauritian sega to afro-fusion and free funk.

This week is curated by the crew of the Babani Records collective, who based on the tropical island of Mauritius, “release music and curate mixes promoting the tradition, art and culture of the Indian Ocean.”

In their own words: “This mix is a depiction of how we would love a Monday morning to sound on any of the islands of the Indian Ocean and that we want to share to the world. Whether you’re on the beach, by a river, on a mountain, in your car or at work there’s a common need to feel positive vibes to start the week at your best.

It features some gems we’ve found while digging for music in the region and loaded with material that we’re restoring for re-issue catalog. It also features an upcoming track from the label’s Band, Babani Soundsystem.”

We’ve kept the tracklist back with so much catalogue to be restored in this one. So simply sit back and enjoy!

We now premiere all our mixes a week early on Mixcloud. Subscribe to our channel to listen first, download all mixes, and ensure that the artists included in each one gets paid. Read more about our decision here.
