Restore with 2020 new jersey soul, 80 Avant garde Nigerios synth, 2017 London beats and soulful 2020 Detroit instrumentals.
This week is curated by the multi-talented Jon Phonics, producer, DJ & artist manager from London, UK. With record labels Astral Black – home to releases from Jossy Mitsu, Shy One, JD. Reid, Jammz & more – and Scenic Route – Lunch Money Life / Desert Sound Colony – under his belt, Jon also has a monthly show on Balamii showcasing his influences which has hosted guests including the likes of Alex Nut to Novelist. Day to day JP works as a consultant, connecting artists and labels with brands to create cultural magic as well as importing rare natural wines from around the world on the side.
In his words: “I generally wake up about 6.30 on Monday mornings (okay 7), light an incense, put the kettle on and walk over to the window – watch the buses rattling down the street and hear the sound of the shutters opening on the deli below. I connect my aux and try to find something that’s gonna gently ease my senses into existence, but is also fonky enough to remind me of the undeniable swag inside of me that makes me a sexy and unique individual. This selection of tracks are songs that I think tick that box and hopefully help you to recognise and engage with the passionate, formidable animal that you are at your very core.”
Jon’s latest LP ‘Players Go Places‘ is out now on Astral Black.
