Premiere: Kalbata – Enkuan Part 1

This is the kind of track that when I listen to it, I wish it could be dropped whilst on the Berghain dance floor, partly because its seriously heavy, but mostly because when I listen to it, all I want, is to lose my shit and have everyone around me do the same (which is something Berghain is known for conjuring). Seriously, this track by Tel Aviv OG, Kalbata, out on Optimo Trax, is madness, the heavyweight baseline and industrial claps takes no prisoners, yet the beautiful flute melody weaved in takes you to this gloriously higher and emotionally profound place. It’s one of those tracks that has the potential to great power when used right. Kalbata, is a producer whose sound is constantly evolving, travelling the world to collaborate with the cultures and musicians he takes his inspiration from. The flute of this track was recorded by Kalbata, with the Ethiopian artist, Mulugeta Teshome, when the former was visiting Adis Adaba last year, to screen his Jamaican filmed documentary, Congo Beats The Drum. With the start of his own label, Brush & Broom, expect even more gold from Kalbata dropping next year.

Enkuan is available for pre-order on Optimo Trax.
