Five years on and still going strong, Marcel Vogel‘s Lumberjacks In Hell imprint is celebrating its birthday with a release that rounds up some of the most exciting producers affiliated with the label…and some making their debut. Tracks from Giovanni Damico and Vogel himself assert their outlandish, oddball disco that the label has become known for, while contributions from Borrowed Identity and FYI Chris smooth over space-age synths with cool chords.
We’re delighted to premiere one of our favourites, Dan Shake‘s ‘To The Love’. This isn’t the first iconic dance label he’s managed to infiltrate, having already achieved success on Moodymann’s prestigous Mahoghani imprint and the UK’s Black Acre. Rolling in on a buoyant bassline, Shake fuses sharp syncopated house with boogie licks to create a hypnotic floor filler. The track’s simplicity means the focus is all on the groove, its repetition only serving to heighten the mood. As a track with a pulse, it’d be hard not to break a sweat to this one.
