The Far Out Monster Disco Orchestra – Disco Supreme (Al Kent Edit)

With his remix of ‘Disco Supreme’ Al Kent, follows Theo Parrish and Mark Pritchard in reworking tracks from Far Out Monster Disco Orchestra’s stunning self-titled album, a collaboration between Azymuth’s José Roberto Bertrami and the legendary Arthur Verocai.

On ‘Disco Supreme’ the Glasgow legend strips back the original into a 13 minute epic, beginning with delicate tribal percussion and a gentle lick of guitar to create an atmospheric and spiritual opening. Like all great progressive dance tracks, the record becomes fuller and richer over time, as the strings, a warm disco baseline and exultant horns are added one by one until a beautiful union of sound is reached at the six minute mark.

From then on the baseline, strings and horns slowly drift away, leaving the tribal percussion to casually saunter away into the distance. By stripping back and putting together the finest elements of Verocai and Betrami’s orignal production, Al Kent has shown once again why he is considered one of Britain’s most cherished disco pioneers.

Far Out Monster Disco Orchestra – Disco Supreme (Single) is out now on Far Out Recordings. Their self-titled album is also out now.
