Racking up over 1.2m plays on Youtube now, Liem’s ‘If Only’ has proved a blessing and a curse for Lehult. While it gave the Hamburg label a recognition beyond what they’d expected for one of their first releases, it also brought with it a level of expectation that every subsequent release had to reach the same heights. Instead, the collective have opted for the braver path: to turn their back on the ‘bangers’ and work hard to form a strong identity that is complimented by ‘If Only’ rather than defined by it.
One of the names responsible for this creative direction is co-founder Johan Kaseta, who presents his first solo record as The Erefora Land. A nostalgic four tracks, it takes inspiration from the Super Nintendo RPG soundtracks of Kaseta’s youth that he still takes inspiration from. Nestled on the B2, ‘No Same Time’ combines blissful chords behind a veil of waterfalls, shakers and swooping filters. A charming addition to the Lehult catalogue.
