BBC Radio 6 Music today revealed that Bristol will be hosting 2016’s edition of their 6Music Festival. Now in its third year, the Festival will take place in venues across the city – Motion, Colston Hall, Basement 45, O2 Academy Bristol and the Trinity Centre from 12–14 February.
You might guess from the venue choices that the festival aims to touch on all of the various strands of music culture that Bristol is so famous for. The initial line up includes Roni Size, Pinch, Primal Scream, Beak and old Bristol favourites The Blue Aeroplanes.
At a Q&A earlier today at The Watershed, Steve Lamacq says that the festivals aims to showcase Bristol’s “alternative spirit”, and after last year’s successful festival in Tyneside, 2016 is sure to be a cornucopia of tasteful homages to the city’s wonderful music scene.
The full line-up of artists will be announced on 16th January.
