Lay-Far’s Top 10 Tracks to Play on a Beach

Suncebeat3

For the last 6 years, Moscow-based DJ and producer Lay-Far has been a driving force behind soulful and eclectic music scene in Russia. Exploring deep soulful jazz-infused house, soul, funk and boogie, rare disco grooves, Brazilian music, afrobeat and more, the enigmatic artist has played out across the world, sharing the stage with the likes of Craig Smith, Mark Pritchard, Dego DJ Krush, DJ Cam and Motor City Drum Ensemble.

Ahead of his set next week at SuncéBeat‘s intimate Adriatic retreat, against the stunning backdrop of Tisno’s crystal clear waters and gold-laced beach, Lay-Far has got into the festival mood and picked out 10 stonkingly good tracks to play on the beach.

Catch Lay-Far at this year’s SuncéBeat Festival from 22nd-29th July 2015, alongside Roy Ayers, Eddy Ramich, Kerri Chandler, Black Coffee, Floating Points, Andrew Ashong, Motor City Drum Ensemble, and more. For the full line-up and to purchase tickets head here.

1. Samuel Jonathan Johnson – My Music

Lazy summer vibe. Siesta time.

2. Jackson 5 – Dancing Machine (Daniel Crawford Remix) (Kon Edit)

What a version of an MJ classic! Timeless.

3. Massive Attack & Mad Professor – Trinity Dub

This one must be put on in the light of the setting sun. Just watch those sparkles in the quiet sea waves.

4. Lay-Far with Pete Simpson – Stand Up (Atjazz Remix)

It may sound a bit cheeky but in my mind this is a classic Atjazz remix you should check!

5. Norman Connors – Just Imagine

Some of my favourite Norman Connors’ action.

6. Steve Parks – Movin’ In The Right Direction

This tune has a very firm association with SunceBeat for me! Just look at this record cover!

7. Martin L. Dumas Jr – Attitude Belief and Determination

A rare gem repressed recently by BBE to everybody’s satisfaction!

8. Lord Echo – Molten Lava (ft. Leila Adu)

As hot as molten lava – Lord Echo at his best.

9. Painel De Controle – Relax

Relax…Relax….A bit of rare funky disco from Brazil.

10. Tony Williams – Lawra

This is the power! A forgotten Tony Williams record, which was released back in 1980 in Switzerland. Conscious music for warm days…well any days, actually!
