Premiere: Joe Munday – Step Sister

It was only in March that brothers Danny and Kieron Clancy launched their new Krankbrother Records imprint, and three months in they’re already on their third release – London-based producer Joe Munday‘s Ama’s House EP.

This isn’t so surprising considering the experience of the two boys behind the Krankbrother establishment; throwing high quality parties all over the UK and Europe with ten years behind the decks themselves. It also can’t hurt to have had names like Mr G, Omar S, Four Tet and Gerd Janson as a few of their regular party guests.

Ama’s House EP is the fine work of Joe Munday and we’re delighted to give you the first full listen of one of our favourite cuts, ‘Step Sister’. The intricate percussive rhythms between the hi-hat and high pitched cracks work subtly against a constant 4/4 kick, almost leaving the listener in a deep sonic trance. Claps and jazzy melodic stabs from the sax add summery inflection that demands the movement of feet, whilst verging the whole sound closer to that deep rooted feel of South African house.

KRANKBROTHER003 is released 29th June 2015 on Krankbrother Records. Krankbrother host FunkinEven, Jus Ed, Kyle Hall and Mark E at their Shoreditch Street Party this Saturday.
