With yet another exceptional release, Henry Wu continues to consolidate his growing reputation as a producer. Motions of Wu is his next sumptuous serving, this time on the eclectic Berlin based imprint Odd Socks. Much like fellow WotNot label mate K15, Wu’s productions leave listeners with an insatiable hunger for more. Regardless of tempo, the London producer’s sense for a smooth velvety veneer comes across as mere child’s play.
‘Sumner Road’ is our top pick from the EP, and we are thrilled to be able to give you the first listen to this mellow house number with strong undercurrents of funk and beats. Warm vinyl crackle gives a pleasing finish to a tightly swung funk bass guitar, kick drum and percussion, under distorted organ-like syths and space funk melodies. Fresh, yet so accomplished that it’s a little like when you pull off your dad’s ‘vintage’ jacket.
