“I would like to say bright moments and joy to the universe, to all the beautiful people that might take time out to paste their ears to this very beautiful spinning piece of material…enjoy” (Rahsaan Roland Kirk, 1975)
As the intro gradually builds, Kirk’s impassioned closing speech on his 1975 album is momentarily absorbed into a warm, dreamy sway, carried by the muffled kick drum, woozy synths and shifted accents played on an open hi-hat. Crashing 2s and 4s and tropical percussion suddenly burst this pensive bubble, ordering only muscle memory and maybe the odd fist pump along to a jam we’re sure will be a summer staple on those amber sunset evenings.
Were delighted to give you the first listen of ‘Bright Moments’, taken from the second release on Money $ex Records, beautifully crafted by one of our favourite emerging producers IMYRMIND. Forming just one of the many bright moments heard, the EP is full of the deep shuffling feel we have come to love from Imyrmind’s productions and is a welcome progression in the Architecture graduate’s musical development, having started off with more hip-hop and jazzy work. Imyrmind is rightfully taking his time with his work and being in the company of Max Graef, Glenn Astro and Delfonic, we’re sure there is plenty more goodness to come.
M$02 from Money $ex Records will be released on the 10th May and is available to pre-order from OYE records and all other good record stores.
