Fela Kuti is of course known as the king of afrobeat, famous for his pioneering music as much as his eventful life, both politically and maritally. This recording, taken from a new compilation on Soundway Records is thought to be the first ever from Kuti, and will bring a smile to an fan of the man’s music. With hints of african percussion, calypso and western jazz, this is a track to warm the cockles.
