We’ve recently been dropping a few hints about fledgeling London/Leeds label Bade Records and now we can finally give you something more comprehensive. Yesterday marked the release of their debut EP from Berlin newcomer Ben Böhmer and we’re delighted to bring you the full stream of the lead track. Much like the productions of other techno contemporaries Francesco Tristano and Recondite, Böhmer’s classical music upbringing has resulted in an EP full of atmospheric intricacies. The saxophone flurry on Sprich is a particular highlight of ours and makes for a strong lead tread track. There’s a risk that a UK label specialising in a very Berlin sound could fall foul as a cheap knock-off. With Black Pattern though, Bade have an accomplished and focussed first release, which has gained support as high up as Alexis Raphael and Maya Jane Coles. With a strong springboard for future exploits, they’ve done the easy bit; now for that all-important follow-up!
Black Pattern EP is out now and available exclusively from Beatport. Böhmer’s next UK appearance will be a live set at Front To Back presents One Day for the Bade contingent. They’ll be part of a hefty evening programme that also features Sven Weisemann, Konstantin Sibold and Marcus Worgull.
