Premiere: DJ Absolutely Shit – Hope This Makes 7th Sense

We’ve been big fans of pretty much everything that’s come out of the Red Laser Records camp. The Manchester-based label, run by Il Bosco, has been at it in the North Western city for years, supplying us with releases that swirl around the sounds of Italo Disco, electronic Boogie and rave-driven breakbeat.

Il Bosco has always taken a somewhat token tongue-in-cheek approach to his activities, a trait that has set him apart from the rest of the Mancunian scene. This extends to his collaborations too. When he’s not producing music solo, you’ll find him teaming up with another Red Laser regular, producer and keys player Metrodome, under their alias DJ Absolutely Shit.

Last Autumn we shared ‘I Really Know We Can Make It‘, the first nugget from a trilogy of EPs the pair are set to release under the moniker. Now we’ve got our hands on another cut off their Chaos Is A Ladder EP, which is coming out officially on wax after being released as a limited press dubplate back in October. ‘Hope This Makes 7th Sense’ is another smattering of uplifting breakbeat. A euphoric vocal sample soars over punchy piano keys, a plucky bassline and crisp breaks that transport the listener back to the rave heydays of the early 90s.

Chaos Is A Ladder will be released on Red Laser Records.
