Premiere: Highrise – Really Feeling

In May this year, London-based DJ T Dunn expanded his Timehri platform with the release of Future Horizons, an EP from DJ Perception which set the tone for the UKG-indebted sounds that would be central to the label.

As a way to bridge the gap between their inaugural and sophomore releases, Timehri paid homage to dubplate culture and the custom of sharing unreleased material in DJ circles with a special production mixtape. Made up of almost all unreleased and previously unheard material, the two 45-minute mixes brought together Perception, the man behind the first release, and the producer who’s taking care of EP number two: Flattrax boss and Shuffle ‘n’ Swing member Highrise.

On Distant Skies, he proves why his work rate is so high with three finessed cuts laced with signature soulfulness and bassline energy. Full of warm grooves, fluid melodies, slick vocal samples and skippy drum patterns, the EP continues Timehri’s mission to showcase the best the contemporary UKG scene has to offer.

Distant Skies is out 3rd November on Timehri Records – limited to 300 copies.
