Two well-respected UK producers show off their strengths on this high-definition cut of atmospheric jungle. Tim Reaper, who needs no introduction in London’s club community, invites Dust-e-1, a Canada-based, UK-born producer who’s more well known for sleepy house music, on this silky liquid roller made for peak time dancing.
Taken from the seventh volume in Tim’s Meeting Of The Minds series, on his own Future Retro London imprint, ‘The Rush’ is a striking display of complimentary energies. A torchbearer of classic breaks and deep rollers, Reaper’s old-school energy is a perfect fit for Dust-e-1’s razor-sharp style. Usually focused on the kind of immersive downtempo that Canada’s West Coast does so well, Dust-e-1 is a Lobster Theremin affiliate whose forays into blistering ragga basslines have kept his name relevant among junglists.
‘The Rush’ is charged with subby frequencies and big body bass that feels bouncy enough to sneak into a house set but also liquid enough for ’90s minimal techno. Crisp, refined and potent, it’s clear both producers are riding off each other’s highs while forging new trails for moody, dance-friendly numbers.
Meeting Of The Minds Volume 7 is out now on Future Retro London.
