Premiere: Qwirk – Say Shava Shava Bootleg

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in India, we’ve teamed up with Daytimers – a UK-based collective which celebrates South Asian artistry – to release a compilation featuring tracks from artists of South Asian heritage, with all profits raised being distributed between several trusted charities providing much-needed relief on the ground.

Proceeding Daytimers’ first charity compilation in aid of Restless Beings, DT002 brings together 15 acclaimed and up-and-coming artists, including Kindness, Pooja B, Suchi, Nahi Mitti and Ayesha, as well as members of the Daytimers crew, for a 14-track release that spans all corners of the electronic music spectrum.

Manchester’s Qwirk has proved he’s a master of the bootleg; his refixes of Justin Timberlake, Ultrabeat and Coolio are evidence enough. For Daytimers he puts an unexpected twist on the K3G classic ‘Say Shava Shava’, fusing amen chops with a hefty dose of donk.

Profits will be distributed evenly to the below charities through Mumbai-based music and culture agency Wavlngth’s fundraiser: Hemkunt Foundation, Goonj and Citta India.

DT002 will be released on Friday 18th June via Daytimers Bandcamp. Artwork created by anu.
