In response to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in India, we’ve teamed up with Daytimers – a UK-based collective which celebrates South Asian artistry – to release a compilation featuring tracks from artists of South Asian heritage, with all profits raised being distributed between several trusted charities providing much-needed relief on the ground.
Proceeding Daytimers’ first charity compilation in aid of Restless Beings, DT002 brings together 15 acclaimed and up-and-coming artists, including Kindness, Pooja B, Suchi, Nahi Mitti and Ayesha, as well as members of the Daytimers crew, for a 14-track release that spans all corners of the electronic music spectrum.
Today’s premiere comes courtesy of Brooklyn-based DJ and producer Ayesha, who puts her own spin on Sukhwinder Singh’s ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’, morphing it into a heavy bass workout dripping in crisp percussion and breaks.
Profits will be distributed evenly to the below charities through Mumbai-based music and culture agency Wavlngth’s fundraiser: Hemkunt Foundation, Goonj and Citta India.
DT002 will be released on Friday 18th June via Daytimers Bandcamp. Artwork created by anu.
