SUCHI is a Norwegian-Indian music producer based in Oslo who came on my radar whilst searching for female Indian producers to soundtrack a documentary of mine. Thanks to the amazing Mumbai-based label Krunk Kulture, I found her commanding bass-driven, melodic-laden sounds.
The maturity of her productions, despite them being her first outputs, instantly made her one to watch for us. And when today’s track landed in our inbox, we knew SUCHI had something special.
On ‘Gula i deg’, she laces 90s rave-fuelled breakbeat with a sample of Norwegian Sámi vocalist Mari Boine’s ‘Gula Gula’, which is an ode to mother nature. The track is an immediate obliterator that will have you imagining you’re dancing in the forest at a misty dawn, after a long adventurous night in the wilderness.
‘Gula i deg’ will be out on the brand new Amsterdam-based label Ganzfeld Records‘s first compilation, Dancefloor Dreamtronics Volume One, dropping March 27th.
