As a way to pay homage to his Guyanese heritage, and provide a space for forward thinking music that is indebted to culture, West London DJ T Dunn launches Timehri, a platform that takes its name from the Guyanese Amerindian word meaning petroglyph.
Used for millennia as a visual way of communicating and symbolising cultural beliefs, it’s this practice that will guide the label’s movements, but instead of the visual, it’s translated through the means of music.
For the inaugural release they welcome Moodswing boss and underground UK Garage pioneer DJ Perception for three tracks of signature UKG and house-driven grooves. On our pick ‘Groove Me’, Perception drafts in guitarist Fitz who layers a soaring, psychedelic guitar riff over deeply swung drums, fat bass and crisp, shuffling percussion.
Future Horizons will be released on Timehri on 1st March 2021.
