Mother of Mars is the latest musical outlet of New Yorkers Vito Roccoforte & Gabriel Andruzzi, formerly making up the rhythm section of late nineties post-punk revivalists The Rapture, and now channeling their love for avant-garde, new age and experimental with their solo joint venture.
Returning to Ransom Note Records as a follow-up to their 2018 releases Seed 2 Sky and Hera in the Valley, ‘Space Without a Shadow’ sees them recruit Japanese expat Jaiko Suzuki on vocals to combine with layers of driving percussion and repetitive synth riff swirls.
On remix duties is long time NYC cohort Willie Burns, who turned his back on the touring lifestyle a few years back to start a synth repair shop with a friend. Willie weirds up the dancefloor whilst still being respectful to the original groove. The EP was mixed by previous collaborator Ewan Pearson – who remixed and produced for The Rapture - and Mastered by Sarah Register who has worked with Lee Scratch Perry, Ariana Grande, Amon Tobin and Depeche Mode.
