Since beginning her United Identities label and club night a few years ago, Dutch DJ and NTS resident Carista has been on a mission to connect with fellow music lovers, both near and far.
This ethos has guided her first compilation, Modern Intimacy Vol. 1, which shines a light on several talented artists from across her home of the Netherlands. Bringing together 10 producers who have come on to her radar, the LP serves as a snapshot of the soulful and electronic contemporary sounds that form the backbone of Carista’s United Identities platform, and provides a taste of what can be expected from the label in the future.
There’s a little something for everyone across the compilation’s 10 tracks; flowing from the soul-drenched stylings of Jelee and Quanza to the jacking grooves and thumping breaks of Mary Lake and Black Cadmium, via the futuristic IDM-tinged sounds of our pick, ‘Dig301’, from Rotterdam-based producer Alberta Balsam.
