Like their name suggests, Sydney-based label Planet Trip cruise from Belgium to Morocco for their fourth physical release, enlisting the talents of Mameen 3 AKA DJ and curator DJ soFa and Rebel Up producer Cheb Runner.
The last year or two have proved a fruitful period for the collaborators who’ve already had two outings on Swiss imprint Les Disques Bongo Joe and teamed up with Rodion GA for Pingipung. Now they join forces again for a four-tracker that continues to flaunt the pair’s shared love of Raï and Middle Eastern psychedelia.
Titled Incunabula, the release sees them take their very own “style no style” approach, channeling their myriad influences by adding everything from machine funk, boogie, leftfield rhythms and hypnotic percussion into the mix.
