French producer and Radio Nova head Blundetto released his fourth studio album Slow Dance on Heavenly Sweetness in May last year, with a strong focus on music of Jamaican origin. Established singers from the Island like Ken Booth, Cornell Campbell and Little Harry all caressed his blunted, slow-mo beats mixing latin-soul and reggae-dancehall.
New Yorker Jahdan Blakkamoore penned the album highlight, its title track, clocking in at just over a minute. Over before you have time to crack a smile, it thankfully forms the basis of a remix EP. Mini-famous for his 2015 Antal-favourite, Violaaa has done us a huge service in extending ‘Slow Dance’ to a much more indulgent length, a melange of Haitian digital kompa, Ghanaian hiplife and languorous dancehall.
Slow Dance EP is out 18th Jan – buy from Bandcamp.
