Having made an indelible mark as one half of renowned Polish duo Catz N’ Dogz, Voitek Taranczuk’s latest project as Ketiov takes him in a slightly different direction. The EP is a more personal and introspective exploration allowing the fervent digger to project his eclectic tastes onto the record.
A departure from the tech-house of the aforementioned project, Taranczuk has more selective ambitions for his solo project, intending to play in smaller clubs to a more discerning listener. Boasting an array of samples, the EP is a direct reflection of the Polish DJ’s wide-ranging musical influences, with the rousing opening track, ‘Samir’, sampled from progressive London jazz ensemble Sons of Kemet. An intense and blistering track, the rampant tenor sax-riffs from Shabaka Hutchings and infectious percussive drive is high energy from start to finish.
