Berceuse Heroique sees the return of Hodge for his third 12′ on the fascinating London-based imprint after the absorbing releases, You Better Lie Down in 2014 and Forms of Life the following year. His first release of 2018 begins what looks set to be another consistently productive year for the industrious Bristolian producer. This year has demonstrated a deeper and more emotive side to his music making abilities, following on from the dance floor oriented direction heard on his releases via Hemlock, Clone and Livity Sound.
His third instalment on Berceuse Heroique is a four tracker which includes an ambient cut heard at the start of his RA mix earlier this year. Our premiere ‘Don’t Hold Your Breath’ starts off with a flutter of archetypal experimental Bristolian sound design before offloading a 4×4 kick drum in between a flurry of sounds. When the enticing synth line comes through the track really finds its balance. Neat drum work fused with warm sonics of sub bass also lend a hand, organically developing as the track progresses.
