Since releasing his triumphant debut album Sunshine, our appreciation for Hector Plimmer’s artistic aptitude has continued to grow and on the eve of a new drop on Albert’s Favourites label; Plimmer demonstrates a fast developing maturity with brand new track ‘Sleep Easy’.
Kalimba and melodica take centre stage as main harmonic instruments from the tracks beginning; played almost stoically with a touch of reverb, they achieve a sense of lullaby – perfect for late evening listening. Building with drums and what sounds like the bass end of channel interference, the upbeat, measured groove provides more pleasing contrast with a still overall tranquil feel. Yet the full intended effect of Plimmer’s off-kilter groove is felt only when the main sub bass is introduced – to have you blissfully nodding away till the tracks eventual end.
Bulb EP is released 23rd September via Albert’s Favourites on digital format only. Head over to Hector’s Bandcamp for your copy.
