Premiere: Patrice Scott – Soulfood

As he enters his 11th year of a professional producer, Patrice Scott’s standard is unwavering in its ability to, firstly, be attractive from the outset, but also secondly, be one that you keep coming back to with growing interest. The title track from his latest release SoulFood EP on his own Sistrum Recordings bubbles along nicely as a jammy warm up tool. Filling the gaps between its 4/4 measures are syncopated toms and bongos that give that bouncy, rolly feel often swerved by straight house tracks, but are become more common amidst this broken beat resurgence.

SoulFood EP is out on Scott’s Sistrum Recordings 25th May – buy from Fit Distribution or Juno. Catch Patrice at Peckham Rye Music Festival on 14th May.
