Heist Recordings deliver their most outernational endeavour to date with the release of Alma Negra’s latest EP Endless Summer. The work of Alma Negra never fails to exhibit cross-cultural prowess, with group members hailing from different corners of the world blending traditional African music with jazz, Latin, house and techno. This Swiss-based group are best known for their previous work on Sofrito and Basic Fingers, having received support from Gilles Peterson, Ben UFO and Axel Boman.
On the B-side of their latest EP, the title track closes the record off on a light and mellow note. Silky keys and a chorus of chants ease us into the track before a groove-filled bass line and wavy synth-funk top line take it away. This track showcases what Alma Negra do best: crafting addictively danceable music by blending sounds from across the world.
Endless Summer is released on 5th May Heist Recordings – buy from the Heist website. Detroit Swindle host a Heist Recordings stage at Farr Festival (13th-15th July).
