Sound Industry is a new music conference in Bristol which looks to deconstruct and challenge the makeup of the music industry. Right from a business-facing macro level down to the inward-looking micro. The conference aims to inspire discussion encompassing the vast demographic and it’s surrounding issues represented by the music industry, rather than the narrow one it often seems to be run-by and directed to.
Hosted and coordinated by Bristol Women In Music on the 30th March, Sound Industry will bring figures from the music industry together for a day-long event of discussions, workshops and key-note speeches. Invitees include notables from the likes of gal dem, WOMAD, Crack Magazine, our own Head of Film Mia Zur-Szpiro and BBC 1Xtra. To be held in Colston Hall, the conference has programmed a number of panel discussions interrogating issues of gender, diversity and equality, health and politics. These will run alongside and between DJ and production workshops, concert performaces by Kate Simko and London Electronic Orchestra, followed by an afterparty at the Christmas Steps.
Sound Industry is open to all currently involved as well as those looking to forge a career within the music industry. See the list of guest speakers below:
