Detroit legend Terrance Parker serves up a gospel remix for Blutch’s latest EP on Barbecue’s 001.
l’Île, the first EP from Barbecue, and Butch’s second EP following Equilibrium, is a departure from the broken beat house and hip-hop we would normally expect. More aimed for the dance floor, l’Île, offers up three tracks layered with samples and cosmic house grooves.
Terrance Parker contributes a remix for the final track and, with stabbing organs and sharp snares from the start, we can see this one being a summer special even in the midst of winter. The swirling synth gives the track its motion, and the gospel vocals add this sense of euphoria to the mix. Held together with a classic deep Detroit bassline, this one’s in the bag come rain or shine.
