Mr Beatnick had a rather restrained last twelve month – by his standards anyway – putting aside solo releases to prioritise the launch of his new label Mythstery. With the start of a new year, he’s changed up tactics straight away with a new solo EP, his first in 18 months since Formed In The Stance EP on Don’t Be Afraid.
For Church Street Blues EP he teams up with buddies Tief, following up their first collaboration together in 2014 with Marshmallows EP. The B1, ‘Dawn Vapours’, is a mellow surging builder, which begins by combining slick percussive drums sharply layered between a divine, healing flute and a sunshine synth-line. Just after the breakdown he introduces emotional and tender pads into the track balancing graciously between the groove-infused high hats, together creating rhythmic movement and a trance inducing display.
