In an exciting start to 2017, the Vancouver based visual artist, Flørist, is back with a long awaited second solo EP produced under his V. Rosso alias. Released via World Building, the label curated by Ari Goldman of the much-adored Beautiful Swimmers, this is also the much-anticipated follow-up release to the imprint’s debut with Mark Seven earlier this year.
On Window to the World EP, Florist shines a deep, luscious and stylish atmosphere across the five tracks (including two dub mixes) that we heard on his All Caps release back in 2015. The A1 and title track has been circulating throughout 2016, notably played on the Swimmers’ RA mix early this year was the first track from the EP to be officially aired earlier this month.
We’re delighted to premiere the next, ‘Down & Out’, a mellow, organically growing builder combining refreshing UK garage pickings and deep house cuts with shades of Detroit. A gradual, low-key drum pattern keeps you enticed from the start, amidst off-beat snares and glimpses of delicate melodies, signature to the Vancouver sound. It’s not until about half way where the track moves into full flow and the layers start fusing together. The dreamy and subtle flute-sounding synth is a thing of beauty, featuring constantly in the background, spacing harmoniously between the mellow pads and hypnotic deep bassline. Together they create a delightful yet energetic spectacle.
Window to the World EP is distributed by PPU, available via Earcave from 2nd January and coming soon to all high quality shops worldwide.
