Premiere: Earth Trax – Flowers

Spurred by producer and label founder Wouter Brandenberg pressing his first single, Amsterdam label Dopeness Galore have been kicking it since 2004. Now boasting a rich catalogue including releases from San Proper and András and Oscar, plus old works from Chet Baker and Pharoah Sanders, Dopeness Galore aren’t a label to be pigeonholed by genre. This time round they are journeying into deep house territories with Warsaw native Earth Trax – also known as The Phantom and Bartosz Kruczynski, one half of Ptaki. Fresh off the back of his joint release on Rhythm Section with fellow Polish producer, Newborn Jr., he lures us into the bowels of house for this debut solo release.

Our selection, ‘Flowers’, shows off his nimble touch from the outset as he brings together multiple elements with ease. We’re beamed in with reflective synths and sprinklings of open high hats, while pan pipe melodies pull the track up from the depths, forging a wonderful contrast to the sonorous bass below. With nods to Detroit and deep-rooted balearic tones, this is deep house that treads the line between darkness and light. Just how we like it.

Los Conquistadores EP is out 31st Oct – pre-order the 12″ from the Dopeness Galore website.
