Often the backdrop to scenes in the television series Game Of Thrones, the Moroccan town of Essaouira will certainly provide one of the more intriguing late-summer festival destinations of 2016. Taking place halfway down Morocco’s Atlantic coastline between October 14th and 16th, Moga Festival’s debut year is a colourful alternative for European festival goers yearning for something further afield.
From pool and beach parties to rooftop sessions boasting stunning views, various venues around Essaouira are set to host lineups brimming with both local and international talent. Huerco S will add his distinctive brand of textured techno to the sights, sounds and smells of the bustling Moroccan town, where he’ll be joined by the likes of L.I.E.S. boss Ron Morelli and label regular Terekke. Throw Innervisions stalwarts Âme – for a special Gnawa collaboration – jazz and hip-hop connoisseur Lefto, Hyperdub head honcho Kode9 and minimal maestro Sonja Moonear into the mix and things are shaping up very nicely indeed.
