Premiere: Reekee – Wurli Things

There’s a certain thrill about a B2 find, hidden on the final set of grooves on the record. It might not be the most dancefloor ready, or have the most instant impact as you browse through Soundcloud streams or Juno charts but, when given the chance, the reward of your patience and diligence becomes all the greater.

The corresponding tracks of this B2, from Italian producer Reekee, first popped onto our radar during Tama Sumo’s set at Gottwood this summer, a soulful reprieve during a typically hardy session from the Berlin DJ. Further exploring into the depths of the EP unearthed ‘Wurli Things’, lacking Billy Love’s vocals that were present on the preceding two tracks, but compensation with the most outrageous groove from Jacopo Moschetto’s piano playing. A Chaos in the CBD lesson in patient arrangement, a Ron Trent tutorial in deepness and a Glenn Underground exercise in face-curling jazziness.

Meeting Point EP Vol. 1 is out 3rd October on Wrong Notes – pre-order from Juno.
