Since popping onto our radar in 2014 with their powerful EP for Just Jack, that toed the line between tough and genial house, Dutch duo Beesmunt Soundsystem haven’t been rushing themselves. Only one release has followed in the subsequent two years, so their latest for Church is a much needed one. Combine that with the fact that their remixer on the EP has been equally restrained recently, and there’s a lot to be excited about. Mosey made quite a splash last year after debuting on Future Times with Tuff Times and, until now, we’ve been awaiting a next move. Not only is this a coup for the flourishing London label, but from an A&Ring point of view, it makes a lot of sense. Both remixer and remixee have a penchant for presenting melancholic, emotive melodies in a more rugged context and, subsequently, the result is both playful, assured and introspective.
Afterglow EP is out 8th August. Pre-order from Red Eye and stream the rest of the EP on Soundcloud.
