Premiere: Project Pablo – Evening Call

Time really does fly. It’s been almost six years since Lone launched his Magicwire imprint, an offshoot of legendary R&S Records. Over the years we’ve seen contributions from Neon Jung, Kommune1 and of course Lone himself, and now, after a brief hiatus, the label are back with their second release of 2016, following Lance Neptune’s Animal Eclipse in February. Staying true to their code of “bringing you sounds from distant lands”, Montreal’s Patrick Holland aka Project Pablo, graces us with his first solo EP in over a year. Priorities, we’re told, is a “trip through the day-to-day while discovering balance in the mundane.”

Our pick is opener ‘Evening Call’, a warm, summer jam that welcomes you into its folds by way of clean hi-hats, a simple low slung bassline and sunny oscillating notes. As we approach the half way mark, a gleaming melody and slivers of synth evocative of soft bird coos add texture and playfulness to a cut that’s certain to be sound tracking our spring.

Priorities drops on April 8th – grab it from Bandcamp. For more head to the Magicwire Soundcloud page. Catch Project Pablo at Farr Festival 2016
