The latest offering of cosmic, nonchalant dance music from the Scottish capital comes from palindromic imprint Lionoil Industries with their second release, a four track collection touching on everything from spacious euphoria to club ready ghetto funk.
Induced in by Philip Budny’s aptly titled ‘Hash’, with its encapsulating sense of blissful nirvana, the EP immediately grasps the listener with fanciful strings weaving their way amongst the gentle bass notes. Moving forward, Hi & Saberhägen’s ‘Raymond’ continues this euphoric sensation with Bollywood-esque melodies eventually relapsing into serene dabs of chord patterns. Support from this one came as high up Roman Flügel, who dropped it in the opening quarter of his essential mix.
Next up we have Telfort’s ‘In Two’s’, a 4/4 dusty selection of organic, uplifting house, centred around a singular, spiralling riff. Continuing a sense of intergalactic-ness which is prominent throughout the EP, the track comes to an end with the sounds of a slightly weightier kick drum, certifying it for club sound systems worldwide. Percy Main then proceeds to send it home with ‘Chat Room’, a casual array of ghetto vocal snippets amongst sharpened hi hats with the odd old school funk sample thrown in for good measure.
