Far Out Recordings host a label showcase in London

Far Out Recordings are an undeniable authority on Brazilian music. Founded in 1994 by Joe Davis, they’ve released seminal music, both old and new from artists like Marcos Valle, Azymuth, Arthur Verocai and Theo Parrish and the label now even boast their own orchestra! Accolades for the label’s pioneering work are in abundance – perhaps a telling one is from Gilles Peterson: “the original and the best, Far Out has never faltered.”

You’d be hard pushed then, to find someone better placed to bring the sound of Brazil to the capital, a task Far Out will undertake on the 27th November at Corsica Studio’s suitably-named South American neighbours, The Columbian. Alongside label honcho Jo Davis will be Patrick Forge, a UK stalwart since the 80s who brings a wealth of skill and experience from working at Dingwalls, Kiss FM and Reckless in the 80s & 90s. Charlie Bones completes the lineup, whose breakfast show on NTS and Do! You! record store in Peckham have made him a much lauded figure of the London scene. All three champion the sounds of samba, bossa nova, boogie, soul and broken beat through Brazil’s unique and vibrant cultural perspective. It all promises to sound extra sweet through a beefy Funktion One system.
