Distributed by small-label favourites, Lobster Distribution, Australian newcomer Mall Grab helps launch vinyl only Bristol imprint, Shall Not Fade, with his moody, lo-fi and analogue sounding Alone EP.
Our pick of the EP, ‘Orange County’, gives that ethereal, early hours “let’s get this going” vibe that stands out with punchy yet restrained synth stabs and a tannoy vocal. Aside from some bongos, the track doesn’t deviate from its original premise, but that’s what makes it such a crucial bridging deep house track; not too much lift off, just cruising, eyes closed. With its catchy refrain, it does a lot to solidify itself as the front-runner off this EP, alongside its ambient counterpart, utilising similar analogue sounds that certainly fit with Mall Grab’s sound.
