Information surrounding Metropolitan Soul Museum is currently scarce, but with this first release dropping on a new label of the same name, they seem to be hitting the ground running.
Appearing on vinyl only, the two-track release consists of ‘Ruff Trk 4’ in its original form – a straight ahead stomper with a thick, fuzzy bassline – and as a remix by Danish producer Round. Having last appeared on John Talabot’s Hivern Discs last year with the dreamy ‘Glass/Float’, Round brings a touch of the same rich atmospherics to his ‘Come Closer’ version of ‘Ruff Trk 4’. The original’s bass line remains intact but a panpipe-heavy middle section is added that takes the track skyward, whilst toughened-up drums keep things firmly anchored on the dance floor.
