Guess what?! In-Beat-Ween Music are releasing a collection of dance numbers inspired by the grooves of jazz-funk and the warm heart of American soul and today we’re premiering our pick: Haku‘s ‘Space Helmet’.
The rolling rhythm that kicks the track off remains its prominent feature, and while the glitchy restarts catch you off-guard, it simultaneously remains as fluid as the baggy bassline beneath it. The beefy groove, reminiscent of Lone’s hip-hop experiments, gives structure to the spacious synths and airy windchimes which decorate the beat. There’s a sense of tandem, the beat and the bass working together, despite sounding worlds apart. And guess what? It works.
