1979 Soul Record By Virginian Prison Inmates Gets A Repress

The team over at the Numero Group are set to re-release Edge of Daybreak’s Eyes of Love LP, originally issued by Bohannon Records in 1979. As part of an endless catalogue of other quality represses put out by the label, what really sets this record apart is that it was set to tape inside Powhatan Correctional Center and recorded by a handful of Virginia prison inmates.

The repress will honour the special recording session where “in just five hurried hours, the band set up and knocked down each of their eight original compositions in one, miraculous take”. The record of which an original copy sold last year for a cool £900, is already getting love from the likes of Flo Po and Four Tet, but if that isn’t proof enough, you can have a listen to the samples here alongside the smooth and silky harmonies of title track above.

Eyes of Love LP is set for release from October 15th via Numero Group.
