It was back in 2013 when we first featured the jazz-infused sounds of Manchester-based, analog-enthused producer Olsen. His debut album (released on Ninja Tune signee Raffertie’s Super Recordings) was a true exercise in spaced-out polyphony and mellow house sentiments, and something we consistently revisited over the last two years.
Thankfully the wait for new material is now over, and we’re delighted to be bringing you the latest sounds from the laid-back house whiz ahead of his appearance at comm•une’s second birthday this Saturday (June 27th) alongside Outboxx, K15 and Tenderlonious.
‘Oslo’ continues to build on Olsen’s ambient affection for electronic music, with chromatic chords teething under washes of warm kicks and white noise. Rich tones continue to build, with ripe claps and a brassy synth line providing momentum during the 4-minute shuffle. That final golden touch comes from essential dynamics that ooze and swell to the beat, keeping this electronic venture sounding as human as possible.
