FINA White has slowly crept up on our radar as a techno imprint we can trust. Breaking off from FINA Records, both parent- and sub-label are still in their infancy (the former only established in 2011), yet have harvested a rich crop from a learned bunch of techno and house producers.
After FINA White‘s debut release from A1 Bassline last year, the label follow up with an EP of pure dancefloor-orientated fire from Barcelona-based producer, Clip! An RBMA alumnus from the class of 2011 with musical roots in both classical and jazz, Clip! differentiates himself from the ever-growing playing field of electronic music with his signature ‘hardware only’ live shows.
A chameleon of sorts, Clip! unfurls his feathers in the realm of peak time techno cuts with the forthcoming EP. Our pick of the bunch is the opener, ‘Brotherhood’. This track isn’t short of a classic, with its constantly hurried pace, menacing bass line and jagged-edged finish. Groove is injected into the mix with an old Chicago house vocal sample on consistent loop throughout, polishing the track to make it suitable for the dancefloor.
Brotherhood EP is out next week on FINA White.
