Brame & Hamo – The Parish Rumours EP

This year has already seen several impressive, club-ready releases on Detroit Swindle‘s Heist Recordings, and The Parish Rumours EP is no exception. After several well received collaborations on their own label, Splendor & Squalor, Irish duo Brame & Hamo return with three polished house tracks perfect for those breakthrough tracks within sunny sets.

Parish Rumours‘ kicks things off with a penetrative kick, before the loose hats give the track pace. Filtered female vocals and bright melodic flourishes punctuate the beat, while a summery soundscape swells in the background. ‘Ghetto For You‘ is more ‘heads down’, the groove comprised of several organic layers which shuffle on the hi-hats. A suprise break leaves just the kick and bass before the track rises once again, supporting the soulful vocals.

‘Hotshot’ rounds the EP off nicely, a jazzy composition that sounds a million miles from the musical connotations of Ireland. Reminiscent of Fouk, also having recently released on Heist, the smoky track returns credibility to the ‘deep house’ label once again.

The Parish Rumours is out now on 12” via Heist Recordings.
